GUARD RETENTION

Instruction detailed the use of frames and base to effectively inhibit hip rotation. Students mastered flat backing techniques to prevent the stack and implemented the chair sit protocol for when opponents attempt high climbs.

SIT UP GUARD

Mastering the single leg wrestle up and the overhead bump reaction. Josh Allsopp provided a detailed analysis of the posture and opening angles required to initiate technical transitions from the sit up position.

SPIDER LASSO SYSTEM

A comprehensive study of retention basics alongside the single leg X back sweep, shin flick triangle, and scissor sweep. These methodologies ensure a versatile defensive and offensive open guard framework.

CURRICULUM TAUGHT

Cross Grip Passing: Executing the Crazy Dog pass and shoulder switch mechanics to clear high knee shields, supplemented by the bullfighter pass utilizing cross grips.
Collar Sleeve Passing: Utilizing low squat positioning to clear frames and successfully navigate outside the opponent defensive line with technical precision.
Closed Guard Escapes: Implementing armpit frames and the log splitter while maintaining the correct posture to open the guard and initiate passing options.

THE ESCAPE SYSTEM

The technical block concluded with a sophisticated triangle escape system. Students learned to utilize high hip positioning for immediate extraction or the sit back method, stepping into armpits to break control and execute a counter leg drag pass. This is the blueprint established by Professor Jihad Bekai at GFORCE since 2010.
